Massage Therapy in Irvine
While you may consider massage a relaxing spa treatment, at Pirmann Family Chiropractic it’s more therapeutic in nature. Our therapists help us with what we call mapping. The point of the massage therapy is to reduce (or map) tender points, trigger points, adhesions, and scar tissue—anything that may lead to why the patient is feeling what they’re feeling. Their feedback to the doctor is essential in providing the best care possible.
Restoring Muscle Function
The purpose of massage at our practice is to restore normal function to the muscle. By reducing the guarding aspect on the spine, the joints can move better. When pressure is taken off the nerve, a patient can move better, feel better, and function better. So we find that massage adds to the adjustment and helps improve patients’ mobility.
Who Can Benefit?
Just about anyone can benefit from massage therapy. From young athletes who have discomfort due to a sports injury to adults who spend many hours working from home, people across the spectrum can benefit from massage.
What Techniques Are Used?
Unlike a relaxation massage, the techniques our therapists use address tender points and trigger points. It’s what we call deep tissue massage or trigger point therapy to get the knots out, relieve pain and improve mobility.
